    My Sweet Handcapped Gabriel

Gabriel was (confiscated....err stolen) from a former backyard neighbor along with several others born with missing limbs. Last night he was folowing me around being a silly boy, so I took his pictures! Don't be fooled by the lying on the side act...he gets around just fine now that he has nice thick calluses on his stumps And another picture of him acting silly. Actually looking for tummy rubs!

Gabriel (after the angel ) was annoyed at the other cats who were competing for attention too! I had to shut the bathroom door so he could get lots of his favorite tummy rubs! He is a total character!

What a sweet boy Gabriel is! Yes, I'm sure you're right his missing limbs doesn't bother him, since he's never known otherwise. He sure is asking for tummy rubs and I'd love to give him some - I trust you'll do it for me.

Do you know how old he is?

    BELLY RUBS YAY!!!!

Gabriel is about three now, though I'd have to check my old calendars for the date of confiscation! Backyard neighbors daughter (15 or so years old) got litters of kittens from her uncle whose cat was popping out litter after litter, with handicapped kittens in each one. I tryed till I was blue in the face to educate Lana about the importance of spaying, but it fell on deaf ears. She would let the kittens out to play....with a busy street on her side, and a tar backyard next to mine. Impy was the 1st to go 'POOF'. He needed his leg amputated right up to his hip as it was torn to shreds and getting infected. He uses his remaining hind leg like a pivot and wildly chases his tail sometimes! Nickki is Gabe's sister, and she has half a hind leg. I dread to know what's going on with their mother now that Lana's moved away. Hmmmm...wonder where all her kittens went??

    QSA,

Gabriel is beautiful! Ya know what?? I'll bet he doesn't even know he's handicapped! MooShoo, who is blind in his right eye and has limited vision in his left, has no CLUE he can't see well.

As far as your neighbors are concerned, have they ever heard the word INBREEDING???? That's probably why they're kittens are popping out with disabilities. STUPID IDIOTS!!!

    Sorry, had to rant.

Those poor kitties. i'm glad that Gabriel's genetic damage didn't affect his heart or purr motor. STOOPID people, creating thalidomide kitties!

    Gabriel is precious!

I'm sure he is one happy kitty and know how truly lucky he was to be confiscated by the best!

My Hope (a rescue as well) only has half of one of her back legs ... but she still runs and plays too. I am wondering if hers is a birth defect too? hmmm...

Kim, What a gorgeous girl you have! My guess is it is probably a birth defect that Hope has. Sometimes though, novice queens will chew off a leg while severing umbilical cords. They amaze me at how well they get around despite being handicats! Gabriel zips up and down stairs after me at a rapid pace silly boy. Jan
