    Left Or Right??

Is you cat left or right pawed??

    Ed is a lefty.

I read about a study where cats were put at the top of a staircase and were observed as to which paw they used to lead off with.

Has anyone payed attention to this?

Jazz and Scout seem to favor the right paw but my big ole Ripley is a southpaw. He always fights and leads off with the left.

I have no stairs in my apartment but I suppose I could put Max on a chair and see which foot he starts off with. To tell you the truth it certainly hasn't been a burning question of mine.

My guys definately have preferences. Percy and Norm are right pawed. Willie and Tiger are also right pawed but I think it has a lot to do with their sight limitations - both have sight only in their right eyes. Pippin has no preference - he's just excited when he hits anything with either paw!

OK, I caved. I tested Max out by having him jump of 3 different surfaces. He's definitely right-pawed.

Then I tested out Speckles by playing with her to see which paw she used the most. No surprise here, she uses both.

LOL - they look like they are giving each other "high-fives" - too cute!

Ally and Connor both seem to be "right-pawed" but the results are inconclusive - I have already interrupted nap-time to check their belly hair for another thread, so I am in danger of having a couple of fingers amputated by their claws if I bug them again!

Thanks Kay for my great sig & avatar!!!
