    Worried about Nebo again

Nebo acts fine, he's been running around as normal, but I'm paranoid as usual. He's supposed to eat 3 cups of food per day. Over the entire weekend (friday included) he wouldn't hardly eat. I bet he ate maybe 1/2 cup for 3 days. He did not refuse treats or anything, just didn't want to eat his dog food. Finally, on Monday he ate all 3 cups of food. About 3 hours after he ate his dinner, however, he threw it all back up.

It's not that unusual for Nebo to not eat all of his food, he rarely does. He does seem to throw up fairly often also, so I guess it's not entirely unusual that he threw up...

But this seems extreme even for Nebo. I think I'll call the vet tonight and see what they think.

I think it'd be a good idea to have the vet check him over. It could really be any number of things or it could be nothing! I think for your peace of mind, a vet checkup will do good.

I'm sure he'll be just fine!

I agree with Aly, Amy. You'll feel a bit more at ease after speaking with the vet. I too worry when my kids refuse their food. Hugs and well wishes to beautiful Nebo Check back when you can, Amy. Sandra

Nebo pup, you're worrying your Mommy! I too agree a vet checkup would probably be the best way to go, to give you some peace of mind. Tasha is kind of a scant eater, but she will generally accept treats with enthusiasm still.

You said he throws up kind of often, I wonder if he has gastric reflux or something.

Anyway, I hope he checks out just fine, and Nebo stop worrying your Mommy like that!

    Amy ~

Hope Nebo is feeling better - SOON!

Here's a web link that pretty much suggests what
    our Doc Mike has suggested...

    Upset Tummy Suggestions...

    -------------------------------------------------
Doses vary widely from pet to pet, however, so be sure to
    ask your vet for advice.

    1. Pepto-Bismol can be given.
Give one teaspoon per 20 pounds of weight
    every four to six hours.

    2. Kaopectate is helpful for digestive troubles.
Give one teaspoon of Kaopectate for each ten pounds of weight, every four hours.

    3. Di Gel Liquid can be given up to 4 tbs. every 8 hours.

    4. Maalox can be given up to 4 tbs. every 8 hours.

    5. Antacid liquids for humans containing aluminum and/or
    magnesium hydroxide may help soothe the irritated stomach lining;

However: the most important part of treatment is Fasting!

Dose aluminum hydroxide antacids to provide
10mg pe pound of body weight every 6 hours.

If vomiting is present with diarrhea,
drugs containing bismuth subsalicylate are best.

**Do NOT give preparations containing aspirin
when your pet has upset stomach!**
    ------------------------------------------------

Doc Mike's "Rule of Thumb" is if someone
Tosses Their Cookies after a regular meal...

    1) NO MORE "food" for about 12 hours!
(A biskit or two and WATER permitted - SMALL amounts of water,
    offered often.)

    2) If no vomiting after 12 hours - try 1/2 of a "regular meal"...

    3) If THAT 1/2 meal comes up ...

    4) Start the Pepto-Bismol for 12 hours (with water, NO food).

    5) NEXT "meal" is a White Rice + SUPER-WELL cooked Lean Hamburger mix -
maybe a half cup every 12 hours.

    6) Stays down? Continue Rice + Hamburger for 24 hours;
    then return to regular krunchies.

    7) Rice & Burger comes *UP*?? CALL da Vet!

We never got past Step 6.

    He *ALWAYS* sez:
Bring in a "FRESH" sample of poop AND/or what comes out the "front end" -
He likes to *look* at the "evidence"!

He stresses: Everything in "moderation" -
easy on both food and water -
NO *gulping* - HAND feed if required.

    Feel Better - Soon, Nebo!

Hope you are able to get some answers, Amy. I would definitely know something was wrong if any of ours refused food!

    Hugs and prayers for Nebo.

Cats sometimes throw up after eating too fast. Can this be true of dogs too?

    Hope he feels better soon!

I hope everything is ok with Nebo. Let us know asap.

I know sometimes Roxey doesn't eat that much, but she definately eats more than that....even if she has an upset tummy.

Good thoughts for sweet Nebo & big kisses too!
