    Skijoring Race

Today was our first local race of the season. I handled for the morning for some friends running their dog teams. I don't race with my full team--don't think we're ready and don't really want to. But I decided to enter the one dog skijor with Raven. It's the second race I've ever done--both with her. Today's course was seven miles long and we finished in just over 44 minutes. We came in fifth--even won a couple prizes--a stylin' new coat for Raven when it's really cold and some cash! I was happy just to finish and not be last!!!

This is a pic of us leaving the start line.

That is great!! Congrats to you and Raven!

It looks like a fun sport. I want to try it with Drake but I am hesitant since I know I may fall and seriously hurt myself!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

How fun that looks!! If I ever get a black or mostly black dog, I'd love to name him or her Raven. I love that name

    Congrats on placing!

Congrats on placing in the race!!!!!

It looks like so much fun--is it hard to train them to do it??

I'm scared--I've never even been on skis, much less with a dog pulling me on them

It's not that hard to teach them--course I've never tried to teach anything but a husky. It's easier to let a husky pull than to teach them not to! If you've never skiied, I would recommend that you at least get the basics of that down before you tie your dog on!
