Please say a prayer for Mr. Darcy

My parent's Boston Terrier, Mr. Darcy, was diagnosed with an ulcer on his eye a few weeks ago. This required emergency surgery last week to try and cover the hole left by the ulcer. Unfortunately the surgery was not successful, and my parents have driven to Charlotte, NC today to have his eye removed.

I'm sure that Mr. Darcy (3 years old) will be fine, but if you can, say a prayer for a complete recovery for him, and include my parents who have so diligently cared for him.

    Thank you.

Thank you for the prayers. My dad just called and let me know that they are already back home. It is a two hour drive, each way. Dr. Eichenbaum (the surgeon) said that the eye was severely infected, although the graft he had last week had actually begun to take. The infection was overtaking his eye.

They inserted a silicone prosthesis, then sewed the eye shut. I had told my mom last night to tell Dr. Eichenbaum that in addition to praying for Darcy, I was praying for him too. She said they started talking about my rescue work and that he told her that he and his wife had just rescued and adopted a 9 year old Golden Retriever. I knew I liked him from the things Mom and Dad had said about him!

Darcy will go back to see him in 3 weeks, at his office in Columbia, for a recheck, but he should be fine, once he gets through the pain. No more eye drops, no more e-collar and he will be happy about that!!!

Liz, I'm going to have to search out some Darcy pictures for you. When my computer crashed, I lost them all, but I have them on CD....problem is finding them!!!!

Poor Mr. Darcy, you will be just as beautiful without the eye. Praying that you heal quickly now and the pain disappears. The vet sounds wonderful. I admire those that adopt the older dogs. Prayers for your parents. I know how hard it is on them, too.

I hope Mr Darcy heals well after his surgery--I'm sure he'll be just fine with only one eye, besides I'm sure he has humans who are willing to be that extra eye for him.
Sounds like Mr Darcy has a wonderful vet too.

My prayers are with him for a speedy recovery.

Thanks to all of you for your special prayers for this special little boy. I figure that in a way he's my "brother" since my parents treat him like a baby!!!!

Last report is that Darcy has rediscovered life after a few weeks of feeling horrible. Mom and Dad sound great about him on the phone, and realize that he will be so much better now. Scout and Darcy are finally back together too (Scout is a Lab mix, about our Murphy's age....almost 14), which makes both of them (mostly Darcy) very happy!!

What great news, Logan! And as we hoped, Mr. Darcy, now free from those drops, the wicked cone and his discomfort, now has a new lease on life...amazing!!!! Poor Scout...I have a feeling she's going to need all her rest to keep up with Mr. D!
