Turning the tables - Dog Rescue

As I was reading the messages about dogs being used to search and rescue, I was struck by the fact that this is the "DOG RESCUE" forum.

How wonderful that we are discussing dogs which are loved and healthy and cared for, instead of abused and hurt and ignored. What an oportunity to show the world their strong doggie hearts that give their all to help humans.

Not every dog has the physical attributes to be a trained rescue dog, but every dog we rescue from terror and abuse can have that same giving heart.

America stands for freedom - I'm proud that our beloved canine friends can help show the world we will all give our very best.

    Antipam,
How true !!!The message of your statement
    about "turning the tables".Very ironic..
All these noble creatures have a desire to
please us. I sometimes wonder if humankind
    is really worth such devotion.
Every Dog has the heart of a Hero, even if
the occasion never arrives when they have to
prove it to us. Hope this lesson in humane
behavior is not lost on mankind!!

This article about the search & rescue dogs, currently working on WTC site, says that most of the dogs were themselves originally rescued from animal shelters.
