    radiation for dogs

I HAVE AN 8YR OLD GOLDEN WHO HAS CANCER. HE HAD SURGERY LAST YEAR TO REMOVE IT, BUT NOW IT HAS GROWN BACK. THEY ARE SAYING NOW HE WILL HAVE TO HAVE 19 TREATMENTS OF RADIATION. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THIS WILL AFFECT HIM AND IF IT WILL GROWN BACK AGAIN AFTER RADIATION?

There is never any garantee that a cancer will not come back. Ask your vet to talk you through the side effects of radiation. It is an awful lot to put a dog through when there is no way to explain why or when it will end. I really feel for you as the decisions facing you are very tough. Your vet, if you trust him/her, is the one who knows your particular situation the best and will give you the best advice. Again, my thoughts are with you, let us know how things go.
