I can't think of any greyhound owners here, but I love greyhounds! I know I want to rescue a greyhound after it retires from racing I would get it from a shelter. I think that they are just such beautiful dogs. Is the greyhound in your sig yours? Awwww, what a sweetie!

Yep, Milly is ours and she is the best!
We adopted her almost 3 months ago and it has been wonderful... no problems!
She is 5 today and is playful as a pup.
We adopted her from a local rescue group that places 30-40 dogs a month.
Milly is our first grey but certainly won't be our last. They are a wonderful and unique breed!

I don't believe they're any Greyhounds here! Milly is a gorgeous girl! My mom loves greyhounds. Are they good with other dogs?

I would say greyhounds are no worse or no better then any other breed of dog. They are just like any dog in some respects. We got lucky as she likes everyone, is a sweet and loving girl and gets along with most dogs! Even my sister's hyper Vizsla! First time they met, he was a little to close and excited for her taste so she gave him a few barks and that was it! Now they are good friends, even sharing each other's beds.
I have found the only type of dog Milly doesn't care for are very loud/in your face dog. She will either walk away or bark at them. Note: greys are generally non barking! They also shed very little, have little to no dander and don't have a doggie smell!
If there are any more questions, just ask! They are awesome dogs!

Here is a full shot of Milly. She is 24" at the shoulder and weighs 55 lbs.

Awwwwww! Why don't we see some more pics of Milly? Now you are making me want a Greyhound ever more! My mom personally doesn't like greyhounds, because when she was young, she had a Golden Retriever. They had two greyhounds across the road, and one day, their golden retriever had puppies! They had Golden Retriever/Greyhound. So they got their dog (Dusty) spayed.

That's wonderful that you rescued Milly. Viszlas are very pretty dogs, and that great that they get along! There was once a Viszla at our local shelter, and it was GORGEOUS! It was golden-red, and it was shiny. We almost took her home too!

I love that second pic of Milly in your signuture.

COOL! I didn't know there was such thing as a wired haired visla!
Milly is soooo cute! I have wanted a Grey Hound for a while, but, I wouldn't have time. I already have two dogs, go to school, and I also have a cockatiel and raise Guide dogs for the blind, (very fun!) go to the website! www.guidedogs.com

Thanks For my Beautiful Sig. Fiachra!

Milly is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love greyhounds.
A lady who brings her springer spaniel into my work to be groomed just adopted a retired racing greyhound, she was such a doll.
My next dog I want is a whippet, but someday I wouldn't mind having a greyhound

    She is gorgeous.
I am a former greyhound owner. My first baby was rescued from the Humane Soc so she wasn't technically a racing dog that we knew of. I had her for almost 2 years. She was my heart and soul. I miss her everyday. She left me 9-13-03. If you go to the geocities address in my siggy you can see the memorial site that Aly from PT made for me.

I just visited your photo album and Shaianne was a gorgeous grey!
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
If you don't mind me asking, what happened to her?

I don't mind telling the story.

In about March or April of 2001 Shaianne started having seizures. We went to the vet and we attributed it to epilepsy since she was a purebred and purebreds are at higher risk for epilepsy than mutts. We started her on half a pill of phenobarbital a day and the seizures stopped. So I thought, "ok lots a dogs deal with this, we can too"
I noticed about a month before she died I noticed she gained a lot of weight. But hind sight is 20/20.
Then one morning in Sept she woke me up with a grand mal seizure. She lost control of her bowels, bladder and bled out of her mouth. That had never happened before, I just assumed she bit her tongue. I got her cleaned up, then I noticed her breathing was labored and shallow. I checked her and her eyes were glazing over and that is when I knew it was her last day on this earth with me.
After talking to the vet a few days later we figured that she probably had a brain anerysm that was pressing on her brain causing the seizures, it must have burst and she bled out.
There wasn't anything we could have done for her, and there probably wasn't any other course of action we could have taken.
But that didn't help the pain of losing her.
So therefore I have a soft spot for greys!
