    Puppymill Rescue...Refresher course

We haven't had a discussion about puppymills in a while. I came across this recent "undercover" video documentary by PETA. I know that PETA evokes a variety of sentiments, some very positive, some negative. But whatever your feelings re: PETA may be, there is no denying the truth as depicted in this recent documentary narrated by Charlize Theron. It is not pleasant to watch. Many of us are already all too familiar with the horrors of these dog factories!!!!!!! But, if you are one who is unfamiliar with the horrors and autrocities that these hell holes perpetuate, PLEASE, have the courage to watch the following video. Then please, spread the word. And as hard as I know, God I know, how hard it is to resist rescuing these dogs from mall pet stores, please, don't. If these monsters have no demand for their dogs, they have no recourse but to shut down. NO PROFIT!! And be on the look out for pending legislation/petitions in your area, promoting the licensing and inspeciton of these so called breeding facilites. THIS IS A GRAPHIC VIDEO

Do you have WindowMediaPlayer? If not, let me know and I'll try and help. It wasn't unitl a few years ago, after joining Pet Talk, that I even heard about puppymills. Now, do what I can to help shut them down, has become a passion. Here's a link for downloading Windows Media Player...

i dont think i have it.. nor do i have the others.. And i really want to see it.. That may sound horrible but i want to see it because it will encourage me to have a passion for it also if i know whats going on.. We bought cami from a store.. She was bred (obviously) but we were told be a responsible breeder.. But you never know. So i told my mom when or if we get a second dog WE WILL NOT get it from a store.. When i explained to her why she understood and told me we would only buy from a store if we were searching for a certin breed to match our lifestyle.. and i agreed.. but we are not looking for a certin breed and i think next time i will think twice before it.. Even though i dont know what i would do without her.. off subject.. But i didnt come to know about puppy mills or backyard breeding until i came here.. i think pet talk has had a great deal of influence on me because of all the stuff everyone has said. But anyway.. it still wont work..

Not to fret Cam. You already know what puppymills are...in your HEART! And as for your getting Cam from a store...well, how many of us knew about puppymills or where pet stores got their dogs from before we joined forums like Pet Talk? And I'll tell you Cam, there's no way I could resist "rescuing" a pet store pup either, if I ever laid eyes on them; heartbreaking! That's why I cannot go into places like Debbie's Petland. And of course, what would you do without your precious Cami?? She's adorable and a wonderful doggie! And like all "homeless" dogs, she was in need of someone to love. We all just have to do what we can to make sure no more dogs are forced to lead lives of such suffering and neglect. Cami is very lucky to have you as her Mom!

    oh gosh thats terrible!!

    • When their uterus turns to “mush” after about six litters, just kill them and get another. No big deal to these puppy mill operators. As they will tell you, “Hell, they’re only dogs!”

this is what got me.. and i thought that breeders were these really responsible people in these farm houses and nice.. im still reading on

I watched the video (and cried the whole time).

I just can't understand (well, yes I can, GREED) why people would want to run mills like the one in the video. It is so painful to watch those poor dogs.
I'm also one who never knew about puppymills or BYB before joining PT. We did get Roxey from a pet store, and I'm so happy we have her, but I would never do it again.
Thanks Sandra for posting this video. I'm going to email it to all my friends to see.

Sandra, I don't have the stomach to even try and watch, but you know I completely understand this whole thing and it makes me sick. The happiest day of my life was to go into our favorite pet store (a locally owned one) and see that all the puppy cages were empty. They only take in rescue situations now. Small steps, but we're getting there.

I saw the video...and cried all the way through it.....

I just cant understand how people could be so cruel and how stupid people could buy from them. If stupid people would just stop buying from them, the horribleness would stop. Like the tape said, if you buy one of their puppies an animal in a shelter is killed....its something to think about. ...

Hearts United for Animals has information on puppymill too. Here is that link: http://www.hua.org/Prisoners/Puppymills.html

I knew about puppymills before joining Pet Talk but I naively thought they were few and far between.

Cam if you do decide on getting a purebred to match your lifestyle. Please don't buy from a store. There are lots of excellent breeders out there for you to purchase one from. It takes some time trying to find a good breeder, but in the long run it's worth it.

I watched and my heart broke and the tears came. I can't even begin to put into words what I am feeling right now. My heart aches for these dogs. I wish there was some way that they could be forcibly shut down. This is just beyond horrific! Thank you for posting this Sandra to make people more aware. I will never forget the sights I saw tonight.
