Might be adopting a second rescue dog

Hi everybody! Well, Brian and I might be adopting a second rescue dog.

His name is James. One of the regulars at the dog park saved him after he was run over in front of her house. The moron ran over him and kept going. I think it was not as serious as internal injuries, but she said it had to do with some sort of fracture to one of his legs. He's much better now.

He's got a couple of issues. He's submissive, but it does not seem to be overly so. I think that would be a good match to Bailey because she's sort of dominant. He's also about a year and a half old. He's not aggressive, food, people, or otherwise, but according the girl's husband, James seems to be slightly afraid of men. He said James was probably abused by a man previously. But he did say that James warmed up to him, it just took a couple of weeks.

I am working on Brian right now, seeing how he feels about another dog. Also, I'd like to go do a play date at this couple's house to see how James and Bailey do together. I did take it as a good sign that when we were leaving the dog park on Sunday, Bailey went right up to him and gave him a bunch of kisses.

Here are some pics of James....

    So, what do you think?

What a cutie!!! All pups need pals - I think James would be a great pal for Bailey. I truly believe that if you have room and can afford a second dog that you should have two. We had Oreo for 11 years by herself. Granted, she was taken from her mother a little early (5 weeks but it was a must because no one was looking after her as she was not a "wanted pup" and her sibling had already died from neglect) and not socialized with other dogs. But she has changed so much since we added Dazzi and the others within the last 2 years it is unbelievable. She is friendlier to people, she acts younger, she gets along with other dogs better.

She will never be super close to the others but it is amazing how close dogs can become to each other. To have someone else to play with, sleep near, just be with. I don't think my dogs are as close as Amy's (cincy's mom) or Christy's (Dakota's mommy) but they still enjoy each other tremendously. I say convince Brian it is the right thing for you both and for Bailey.
