Since Monday night, Hermoine has been making somewhat wierd squeeky/hollow noises while she's breathing. Its almost labored. Last night, she tried to meow and what came out was pitiful.
I took her to the vet as soon as I got home from school today because she hadn't eaten and seemed to be in the same position she was in four hours prior.
She had to have chest and head xrays, was put under brief anesthesia and had her breathing passage ways and larynx examined.
Turns out, she has some sort of a bug that has caused her left lung to show cloudy in the xray and the tissue surrounding her larynx to swell and redden. She was given an injection of something to reduce the swelling (cortosone, I think) and was sent home with some antibiotic drops.
The vet said that had I not taken her in, her breathing tubes could have closed up.
She's resting under the bed now. Poor little girl.
