I have 8GR8 Cats!
The first being a large solid black girl who showed up on our doorstep at approximately 1 year old, about 5 years ago and wooed and charmed us until we made her a part of our lives. She's a DLH... possibly a Persian or a Maine Coon Mix. She is our Puff-Kitty Silhouette. 10/97-at first sighting
Then we adopted 2 barnkittens DSHs our Sunshine and Moonlight! BD 8/18/98
Shortly after adopting Sunny & Moony we went to a Cat Fanciers' Assoc. Cat Show and saw Maine Coons and went wild!!! We agreed that if we should ever get another cat it would be a Maine Coon...
Fate had other plans for us and the next Spring, Sunny and Moony's mom had the most adorable longhaired progeny who looked for all the world JUST like a Maine Coonlet... He became our #4 cat (actually looks more like a Norwegian Forest Cat as a grown up) he is a VERY longhaired creamy classic tabby with white boy we call Furbert Leo Cappuccino... BD 4/1/99
My heart still longed for a Maine Coon though... I located a local breeder and we COONnected and I fell head over heels in love with my Lady Godiva Candy, brown classic tabby... Cat #5 BD 6/10/99
I really wanted a male MC as well so it wasn't long before our MC Lord Thomas Milton-blue classic tabby, joined our family! BD 11/25/99 Cat #6!
We began showing Tommy and Candy... which was great fun!
The breeder Eileen Lash and I became great friends and I would make my visit to see all of the litters and then decided perhaps I would get a breeding queen. I wanted a girl with the most potential for having the greatest number of different colored kittens... Eileen bred a blue girl to a red/silver with white and begat our Queen Rainbow Joy- blue/silver patched tabby with white. BD 7/14/00 #7
Joy grew up and it wasn't long before she was looking for love!!! She fell in love with our other cats' Tommy and Candy's father, Marty, and begat a litter of 4 kittens, Pride, Happiness, Love and Peace... on 12/15/01
Pride was our keeper because I wanted a red classic kitty and he was exactly what I wanted!!! Happiness-Mac & Lovey-both silver and white were adopted by a local wonderful family and Peace-brown went to live in Canada with a dear friend!!!
Before our stray cat Puff I had never been owned by a cat... I was 43 at the time!!! I'm making up for lost time you might say! I am very COONtent with my 8 wonderful cats... who have filled up all the cracks and crevices in my soul!!!
I am very interested in meeting those of you who love the Maine Coon breed, as well as other breeds and randomly bred/mixes as well...
