    this is what i found on the net about the top ten most popular breeds

    Labrador retrievers. 172,841 registrations, up 12 percent
    * _ Golden retrievers. 66,300 registrations, up 6 percent
    * _ German shepherds. 57,660 registrations, up 1 percent
    * _ Dachshunds. 54,773 registrations, up 8 percent
    * _ Beagles. 52,026 registrations, up 6 percent
    * _ Poodles. 45,868 registrations, up 1 percent
    * _ Yorkshire terriers. 43,868 registrations, up 7 percent
    * _ Chihuahuas. 43,096 registrations, up 17 percent
    * _ Boxers. 38,803 registrations, up 11 percent
    * _ Shih Tzus. 37,599, up 9 percent

    Yep, goldens r definatly on that list! Just by Labs! But, its so sad, Goldens and Labs are being s overbred these days, and hurting the breeds we love

    There is always a downside to popularity. The labs and goldens are being so overbred and inbred that the gene pool is being weakened. I would rather have a dog that is NOT on that list. Although, I'm most partial to the Heinz 57 anyway.

    Why aren't Shelties on any of these "most favorite" lists? They're awesome! They're incredibly smart and trainable, and so beautiful.

    BoRdEr ColLiEs all tha way yo!!! I am soo glad border collies aren't up there! It would by so bad if they would be over bred.
