Laser pointers causing mental health problems ???

I was about to buy Dakota and the other puppies a laser pointer or three and a friend who is knowledgeable in lots of animal issues and worked in the field suggested I not. Here is the reasoning please tell me what you think or know.He says he has read and seen and heard of dogs getting neurotic over the fact that they never actually catch anything. His theory I think revolves around them ending up with something like obsessive compulsive disorder, which by the way I found one article on a Jack russel terrier that they related the laser pointer to that problem with.He says they keep looking for the dot and end up sometimes chasing shadows.Anyway he says it doesn't happen to all dogs by any means but why risk any of my puppies, which is true for me.I won't risk them unneccessarily but it sounds like so much fun.We talked for a long time and it would take to long to write it all and what I really want is experience and facts before I make up my mind.It is always safety first with me.As you know Dakota has enough on her but I would like her to have more fun stuff to do and I know my shiba would love it.So before I decide I wanted to know if anyone has any more concrete information for me. I think my shiba Inu is most likely to go bonkers, but then again she allready is just kidding. Thanks for all your help.

My cats LOVE their laser pointer! I've never heard that this toy might be harmful for our pets! If it really is, I won't use it anymore!

I suppose I can understand the obsessive compulsive thing--they could go nuts looking for the dot!!!!
I just know Kito and Abbey would love it!!! I can just see them running around looking for it!!
