    Graym, lovely kitten

I saw the beautiful photo of Graym and I noticed that she was playing with a cord for a blind. I don't want to be too much of a busybody but I want to share something that happened to my cat Muffy (Muffy the Muffin Monster, now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.) One Saturday my husband and I were doing something on the internet when I heard a tremendous rustling coming from the room where the cats spend a lot of time. I said, "Oh, what are they into now!" and I got up to check. I found Muffy half off the floor, on his back, hanging by his back feet from the cord on the blind. It was wrapped tightly around his legs and I'm sure if we had not been home to help him he might have thrashed enough to cut off his circulation and possibly lose a leg or worse. I had heard of course that cords can be dangerous to children but I never thought of my cats!
Anyway I don't know if you think this has been helpful but Ithought I would pass on the story to other cat owners.

Welcome, Chupi, and thank you for your cautionary tale. The things a cat can't get into trouble with are few. When I was growing up, we had a cat who was a bottomless pit as far as food went. My dad brought home some leftover food in a plastic jug one day that we scooped out into Cue Baby's dish. I left the jug sitting next to the dish and went back into the house. Later I heard a funny bumping sound and looked out the door. Cue Baby had her head stuck into the neck of that jug, trying to lick out the remains of the food! She could not get the leverage necessary to pull her head back out of the jug, and was blundering around the yard bumping into things. She would have asphyxiated if I hadn't been there to cut the jug off! Cripes, who would have thought of THAT!!

These stories are SO SCARY, but VERY necessary for ALL of us pet lovers to hear!!!!!! Thank goodness you guys were both there to quickly save the kitties in danger!!! I have another I must add to the list: when my one kitty was a baby, she was fascinated whenever I opened the refridgerator door. I always had to gently push her out of the way so I could shut the door after I got my food out, but one day I didn't see her crawl onto the bottom shelf, and I shut the door. THANK GOD I immediately realized she was missing, and quickly opened the 'fridge door again to find her! She seemed unharmed and unphased by her few seconds in there, but I cringe to think had I NOT realized her gone and re-opened the refridgerator door quickly! I hope all new kitty cat owners watch for this one too--it just scares me to death!!!!
