    Thanks Rizzy,
I was looking for some helpful hints, and felt like I was being attacted for "having a bad dog" and not taking him to obedience school. Whew! Sometimes I hate jumping into these message boards, they often seem so clique ...

Anyways, he only does this until they get close enough for them to actually meet them. Ive had people coming over to the house and after the 2nd time they are over, he lets them in the house just fine, without barking or growling. We go to the pet store and he will bark and growl in the parking lot... in the store he is fine.

I've also noticed this behavior is only with me, and not with my fiance. So you might just be right about that he is 'protecting' me.

Thank you for your responce though. I don't come here that often, but I haven't seen you here before... I know getting around these things can be kinda confusing... ie posting and such... I still don't really know how to work this message board right, and I probably won't have to since I don't really come here that often anymore.

    Take care!!

When your dog is around your fiance more he/she will probably protect him to. My dog barks and growls in parking lots and stuff sometimes too her fur sticks up and everything but it is only a sign of protection they are saying " dont tuch my owner u stay away grrrrrrrrrrrrr "

thanx primabella I just started pet talk a couple days ago
    take care
