There isn't a way for you to stop her from rolling in things (at least that I know of)...she's a dog, that's what dogs do. My dogs do it all the time, and I'm pretty sure that everyone elses dogs have done it at some point in time. Yes it can be disgusting but it's just something that you're going to have to put up with.

Why do the dogs do it? Well I think it's a way to mask their scent I'm not quite sure about that, but I think that's it.

Thanks Amy for the great sig!

I've never been able to stop mine either. I just get mad and give them a bath when they get into something really smelly! Good Luck finding out how to stop this since it is a inborn characteristic that dates back all the way to their ancestory beginnings of the wolves!

Mine don't do it--but they ARE on a leash 24/7---we live in an apartment. Other than that, I don't know of anything--my dogs growing up were always coming home with who knows what on them--then it was bath time!!!
    Good Luck!!

dogs have held on to this trait from wolves...wolves rolled in foul smelling things such as caribou dung so that a herd wouldnt be alarmed by their scent...
