Vet Visits for TWO of my girls!!

    Hey everyone!

I'm taking Tilly to the vet Thursday morning for her acne problems. She now has a tiny sore on her lip so I'm thinking the ulcer might be back. She's eating/playing/pooping/sleeping etc etc regularly so I'm not worried about her, and I'm cleaning and peroxiding (is that a word??? ) every day.

Also, Nutmeg is going in for her spay on December 3rd!! I think she might be in heat. She howls a lot, is very affectionate and in particular shoves her butt in my face (eew!!). I'm not nervous about her spay (yet!!!) but I'm sure that I will feel worse and worse as the time comes up!!!

Right now, Bassett is the only one not needing a trip to the vet!! I'm sure she's very happy about that!!!

I will keep everyone posted about Tilly this week; as for Nutmeg's spay, there won't be much to say until after it's all done

Everything will be ok! The acne visit should be quick and easy and the ohe for nutmeg will go smoothly! Very routine stuff, don't worry

I'm not worried.. I just wish I knew how to keep Tilly's acne at bay. It looks like it should be itchy.. she doesn't scratch it but I feel like if I had that on my face I would want to itch it.. I don't know if that makes sense??

The thing I hate the most about the spay is the part where she can't eat from midnight the night before. I feel so bad because I can't very well lock her in a room, so I pick up all the food and everyone has to deal, but it makes me SOOOO sad when they sit where the bowl should be and look at it pitifully!!!! They really know how to pull at my heartstrings!!

But it's better that she doesn't eat, cause if she does she'll get really sick and be vomiting everywhere. I'd personally rather deal with them not eating than to have them suffer and be sick.
Trust me, the majority of pet owners feel the same way you do about the no food part, we get those comments a lot at work.

Good luck with both cats vet visits. I'm sure everything will go well. Sunny has acne too and I'm trying out some new medicine on him. It's called Pyoben Gel and I put it on his chin area 1-2 times a day. I also bought stainless steel bowls for water and food. I sure hope that this works. I also hope that Tilly gets rid of her acne too. I'm sure that Nutmeg's spay surgery will also go well. Please keep us posted.

KAK - I have been using that exact soap (I went and checked when I read your other thread) and it isn't working. I think she might need something stronger than that.

I already had bought all stainless steel and glass bowls that I clean out all the time now, when Tilly got the first ulcer. The vet thought that might make the problem go away, but alas.. it didn't leave! But I don't have any plastic anymore for them at all. When I travel though I have to have something with a lid.. I wonder if plastic every once and a while is ok? I use like glad ware or ziploc containers, because they are cheap and they have a pretty good and tight seal for the water.

    Tilly's visit

Well, Tilly went into the vet this morning. The vet really isn't worried about Tilly's chin or anything, but she did give me some Prednisone because the peroxide soap isn't helping and the acne is getting worse. She said that in very severe cases they can do a long acting cortizone injection (it started with a "D" but I can't remember what she called it) but it can make cats diabetic!!! So I said we weren't going with that option unless it was dire straights!!! Anyway, she's acting normal and eating and everything, so I'm not worried (anymore). Phew.. it's always great to get a good review from the white coat!!

I'm glad that everything went well. When I told my vet that Sunny had acne, he wasn't worried either. So far it's hard to tell if the medicine that I got for Sunny is working or not. It probably takes at least a week. Good luck with Tilly.
