    help

    Hi. wee problem here, got a wee question, have this old mamma raccoon that has been hangin' 'round me yard for at least 5 yrs. She's a wild one, She has a HUGE cataract on her right eye. The question is, is it painful? anyone...

    Cataracts in people aren't painful, so I imagine the same would apply to animals. The only thing it's doing, is clouding the vision in that eye, unless there are other eye issues going on as well.

    Cataracts are dense, I'm not sure if what you are seeing is a cataract. You say it is "huge" which sounds like the eye is swollen? That is not a cataract. You would also need to be close to see a cataract. Maybe take a photo - from a safe distance? Then use Google and look for a wildlife rehabilitator in your area, and ask him / her about it.
