    Butter is a changed man!!

I hope I don't jinx myself by putting this in writing................

BUT, we moved last week, and the Wonder Butter had to spend the night in a closed bedroom at Scott's house. Thursday evening, we moved him to the new house. He has handled staying inside so much better than I anticipated!! In fact, he has been much more content inside than Mimi has! And the "changed" part refers to the fact that he has not bitten or scratched anyone a single time since last Wednesday!!!! He has slept in my bed every single night, and is lounging around on the bed most of the day, every day. He has lots of windows to look out, and three big sliding glass doors. I had one of the doors open last night, with the screen door closed, and that smart boy did figure out how to open it up and I found him walking on the fence in the backyard. But as soon as I called him, he came right to me and back inside. How about that?

He even jumped up in my mother's lap on Friday and sat down. She was scared to death!!! He didn't stay long, but didn't bite her either!!!

Keep your fingers crossed that this good behavior keeps up!!!

Change is good for some animals

I really do think some animals need a change of environment from time to time. I am not sure what it does for them - maybe just shakes their confidence - but Gabe is a good example. He is still not perfect, but he seems to be enjoying himself living in Vermont with Graemer and Miley. He is still a bit of a pill, but that behavior has not been so bad that he needs to go to another home. Right now, I think he has found out that he is not the King of the Jungle and that was good for him. I (we) will never know why they change their behavior patterns from time to time.

Glad to hear Butter is changing to the positive and not the negative.

Hugs to Butter and all those who have tolerated his biting etc. all this time.

Edwina had been with us about 1.5 years when we moved from a townhouse to a single family home. She also was positively affected by the move. She was a somewhat affectionate cat before but grew much more so -- and seems happier -- in the new house. Who knows?

Thats great news Before you know it Butter will be a regular lap warmer for everyone! There's a cat at work named Peaches who has been at the shelter for 4 years. She reminds me a lot of Butter in her personality. I've been working with her lots and have her to the point where she can spend 5 minutes in my lap purring. I do have a lot of battle wounds from when I first started working with her though Anyway, its such a great feeling to finally see them come around. You're a saint for believing in Butter and taking him under your wing.

    Butter's Spot

Maybe Butter has found his "earth spot". I had a friend years ago who believed that we all have a place on the planet that is in harmony with us, our "spot". She believed it so much, she had some kind of chart thingy done and move to Colorado! I don't think I'd need a chart to motivate me if I wanted to move, it'd probably send me to Antarctica or the top of Everest! It sounds like Butter is in "perfect harmonic vibration with the universe".

No more bandaids, no more of those thin little scars!!

Glad to hear the Butter boy is relaxing his quota of scratches and cuts! He is the one cat on PetTalk who looks soooooo innocent and sweet on the outside, I initially found it hard to believe all the stories!!!

Wow! Has there been a full moon or something? Is this our Butter I am reading about? Logan, what wonderful news. I am amazed that he not only opened the door but came inside when you called. Fingers are crossed here that it keeps up!

I'm so happy for you! Butter is such a pretty kitty, and with that name it's hard to picture him being anything but a puddle of melted butter in someone's lap. It's funny how change affects cats like Butter and Gabe. I've moved many times and Tubby and Peanut have always seemed the same. I think it might have something to do with being top cat and having their confidence shaken because even through all the moves, Tubby has always been top cat and that might explain why T & P haven't been affected that much.

Anyway, I'm so glad he's coming around, and I can just picture your mother with a terrified look on her face and Butter just sitting there purring away as if nothing was amiss.
