    Catz Questions, plz HeLp...

Well, it is not really my question...., rather it's my mom's.

Just past few days, my mom kinda adopted a kitty near her office. Well, since I have never taken care of cats, i don't know how to answer her inquiries.

What kind of cat food is good for kitties?

    Can they eat dog food?

ok, so i have many questions that I can't fOrmulate into words right now, but basically....HOW do I take care of the kitty??? I'm basically LOst! HELP!

Oh, btw, the kitty's a stray cat, about a few months old only.

    NO DOG FOOD PLEASE!

My friend do your new friend a favour and get him a good brand of kitten food , Science Diet has a promotion on Natures Best where they refund your purchase price on a trial bag , or Eukanuba who will give you a wonderful calendar on a 5 lb bag. Or check out Nutro Compelete Cat Care , Kitten formula , they generally have rebates as well . But Cats And Dogs are completely different animals with completely different nutritional needs. Dog food does not have taurine , essential for your cats eye sight and eating dog food can lead to blindness for a cat. so plese dont feed him this as you can always get a good cat food and keep him healthier.

An initial vet visit is always the best idea - also they can give you lots of guidance on kitty care and feeding. I agree, no dog food..stick to a food designed for cats, they have special dietary needs that will keep them very healthy

I feed my kitties science diet and they really like it. I wouldn't feed them dog food, it's not good for cats. Cats are pretty easy to take care of, they can take care of themselves. All you need to do is give them love, a few toys, feed them, and clean out their litter box. And I agree with Tux, you should take then kitty to vet for a checkup just to make sure everything is ok and they can also answer any questions you might have and some vets even send you home with a kitten care kit with little pamhplets and such.

Imagine my Sally chomping on that big bowl of dog food! Not happening! You can give them meat and fish(not all kinds of fish), but not as a regular diet. Are you into buying real cat food? I think Purina is a great brand. But if not you can find things around the house like little bits of chicken and ham, definatly water(you already knew that), uhhh and I forgot but there is other stuff. Get a litter box from a pet store and some good cat litter(Fresh-step works for me)and train the kitty how to use the litter box instead of the carpet. Get a brush from the pet store and groom the kitty daily(well at least that is what I do). Uhh take care of her/him like you would a small puppy. Good luck hope this helps!

    1. Take kitty to the vet - a lot of your questions will be answered by a vet.

    2. No dog food. There are certain things kitties need and they aren't found in dog food. Young kitties need smaller food - dog food is too big. Big cat food is too big, you should get kitten food.

    3. Kitties need litter boxes.

    4. Toys - little kitties love toys.

your mother should take her to the vet, and they can answer her questions, but for now, how old is the kitten? if it is a kitten, purina kitten chow is good, also purina ONE kitten food, in a canister, if the cat is not a kitten then purina cat chow, or science diet is good, I don't think dog food is good for cats! if the cat is dehydratred then canned food can help if its not real bad.
cats are different, some like to be held and petted, so see is kitty will let you hold her, if she does then give her lots of attention at first, if she wants to be left alone then just put her in her own part of the house where she can feel secure, safe and give her a litter pan, food and water and let her alone for a while then later try to see if she will come out, maybe leave the door open so she can come out if she wants.
