How your pets respond to storms.

How do your furry/feathered/scaly/prickly? friends respond to storms? In light of Hurricane Irene, I thought I'd ask. Any storm stories?

My three cats do not seem to be affected by any type of storm. They do seem to love watching the snowflakes come down in winter time. They seem fascinated by that. As far as thunder and lightning they don't seem to notice it.

I often wonder why some dogs are so very afraid of thunder and lightning and others are not. I don't remember any of my Labs ever minding storms. I worked with a woman who had a Great Dane she had to medicate if a bad storm was coming.

I live very far away from the place where Hurricane Irene is coming. But, when it rains or is cold, One Down makes sad sounds and whines

Tasha has been nervous for 2 days now, I think she picks up on the drop in pressure. She hates thunder, so it will be a tough day for her today.

Some of the cats love to watch the blowing out the windows, but at some point it got too much, most of them have moved down cellar now.

The other dogs don't seem too bothered - yet. We do have one good sized tree limb down in the back yard -- Willy spotted that immediately this morning when they went out to pee. He barked at it, all his hackles up -- he knew it didn't belong there!

Mikey is absolutely terrified. He barks all day if it's thundering out. It's ONLY thunder and lightning though. Last night during Irene, he wasn't barking or crying or anything because there wasn't thunder. He was put on Xanax for it, didn't work, and then she offered him some kind of sedatives for both thunder and fireworks and it didn't work. If anything it made him MORE hyper.
