They say they do this because that is how they recognize each other. They don't recognize each other by sight like humans. I am so glad humans don't have to do that.

At first I thought that only dogs did this but my cats do this to each other all the time.Pearl will even go a bit further and try to wash everyone's bottom like a mama cat would.
