    Thanks

Too many people believe that they have to go to a breeder to get cats like a Sphynx (or a Persian, Himalayan, etc.). As it says in Moosmom's signature - Don't buy while shelter cats die. I have worked for shelters and rescues for almost ten years, as well as rescued my cats from shelters, and I can tell you that there are often purebred cats in these facilities or at rescues. People who abandon do not care how much they paid for their cat, they just don't want them anymore (and most should never have gotten them in the first place!). So PLEASE before encouraging a breeder, who is bringing more cats into the world to fill their own wallet, go to a shelter or contact a rescue. Most cats in shelters and rescues will die (most are not no kill) - according to a documentary called Cat Crazed, there are over 50 million homeless cats in North America. That's shameful and can ONLY be blamed on humanity. So let's make 2011 a year where we have a heart and help as many cats (and dogs) get out of these facilities as possible. A SHELTER IS NOT A SAFE PLACE for these beautiful creatures. Overpopulation is NOT their fault - it's ours for not sterilizing, for letting unsterilized cats outside. Personally I believe cats should remain inside if not taken out on a leash - we do not let a dog out alone expecting it to come back safe and sound and a cat should not be put in that position either!!!
Please have your pets sterilized as soon as possible to lower, and one day hopefully eliminate, unwanted and abandoned pets. It IS our responsibility. Adopting from a shelter also helps - encouraging breeders just adds to the overpopulation.

Every cat that sets it's paws in my house is a rescue. My very first Sphynx was my beloved RB MooShoo, who passed over to the Bridge on 2/13/10. He was my soulmate and I will never get over him being gone. Austin B was a rescue too.

Sheba, you're a stunner, that's for sure! If your personality matches your looks, I'd say that your humans got the best possible Sphynx ever. Who cares if you can be a show cat or not? It's the love that you give and receive that counts. Enjoy your day as COTD, pretty girl.
    Blessings,
    Mary

Sheba, You are a beautiful girl! I would imagine that you feel like velvet (the way Luke feels after getting a lion cut). You really do look like a sphinx statue I've seen in photos. I am so glad you have a wonderful home & as others have said, it doesnt matter one bit that you have too much hair for a show cat. Mercy, to me it looks as if you have very very little hair & no wonder you like the warmth of the sun & fireplace. Others mentioned that they adopted their cat; so did I. He was on his way to animal shelter when I saw him & Luke is a beautiful cat. Back to you Sheba, it is obvious that you have a great home & are loved. Congrats on being COTD! Kay in NC

I am a bit conflicted with not buying pure bred Cats from breeders as Miquelito and Pouncierge were retired Show Cats who I bought as their cattery was crowded. And John Hancock and Benjamin James came the same way as he was in a bad home.
There are so amny very Good Cats at these breeders who cannot show and I am especially glad I took in Miquelito and Pouncierge as they are my mainstays now.
Sheba ia such a Beautiful Cat and I would guess with the cold weather she stay close to the sun and warmth.

Sheba what a stunning girl you are!!!

Why anyone would not want you because you had too much hair is beyond my scope of understanding!!! You got the last laugh though, you found yourself a loving family and wonderful home. I hope you are being spoiled rotten today.

Congratulations, sweetie, on being our special Cat of the Day!!!

Sheba, you look so exotic with your big ears, unique eyes, and wrinkly skin! I have never petted a Sphynx cat before, but your pictures make you look really soft and snuggly. Enjoy being cat of the day!! Robin from Kansas

Congratulations and a very happy Cat of the Day to you, sweet Sheba! Breed standards be darned, you couldn't be more beautiful, more perfect if you tried! What a stunning Sphynx you are, Sheba! I can't get over how dazzling your velvety "coat" is, and your ears look as though they are lined in silver! But it's that sweet and loving face that did me in! You're a beauty inside and out Sheba, a true treasure, and your Mommy is one lucky lady, having a best friend and loving companion in you! We can't thank her enough for rescuing you, and providing you with the happiest life imaginable!

I hope you enjoyed (are still enjoying) a very special, love filled day of celebration sweetheart, being loved and spoiled rotten! Love and cuddles and kisses to you on your much deserved day of honor, beautiful Sheba girl! Meeting you, and reading all about your wonderful life, was the perfect way to end my day!
