    Living here in SoCal I had the pleasure of visiting many of the place where these movies were filmed...

    Corriganville was over the hill and we went as small kids to watch the shows put on by actors portraying cowboys and indians!

    Dad took us to see the movie fort they built for some westerns they filmed there. A great place and pretty memorable if you have seen any movie filmed there.

    Wm. S. Hart park is home to a herd of buffalo and a great (but smelly museum) with all kinds of memorabilia from REAL cowboys. They have saddles, pistols and all kinds of stuff from the past, for some reason I remember Bat Masterson's pistols I saw in a glass case!

    Thanks!

    I remember some of them. Bonanza was filmed up in Truckee. They recently sold the land and it is no longer the Bonanza. They used to have tours and things. So sad.
    A lot of these guys I didn't realize had passed away too. I can't believe Harry Morgan is 95! I still remember him as he looked in the picture.
    Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

    Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

    That was quite a trip down memory lane. I can remember just about all of them except a couple that died before I was born in 1940. It is amazing how many of what I consider the old western stars that are still living. Thanks Wom

    I woke up to this tidbit of trivia for Gene Autry, the Singing Cowboy!

    Hollywood Walk of Fame
    Autry is the only celebrity to have five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one in each of the five categories maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.[2] They are:

    Name/ Category/ Address
    Gene Autry Motion pictures 6644 Hollywood Blvd.
    Radio 6520 Hollywood Blvd.
    Recording 6384 Hollywood Blvd.
    Television 6667 Hollywood Blvd.
    Live theater 7000 Hollywood Blvd.

    --------------------------

    The Cowboy Commandments?

    From 1940 to 1956, Autry had a huge hit with a weekly show on CBS Radio, Gene Autry's Melody Ranch. His horse, Champion, also had a CBS-TV and Mutual radio series, The Adventures of Champion. He created the Cowboy Code, or Cowboy Commandments, in response to his young radio listeners aspiring to emulate him. Under his code, the Cowboy must:

    Never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage;
    Never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him;
    Always tell the truth;
    Be gentle with children, the elderly and animals;
    Not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas;
    Help people in distress;
    Be a good worker;
    Keep himself clean in thought, speech, action and personal habits;
    Respect women, parents and his nation's laws;
    Be a patriot.
