    Another Jax problem

He chews paper! If you look at any papers in our house the corners are chewed. I warned Bruce not to leave any important papers lying around because they will be eaten. Bruce works from home, so there are LOTS of files of paperwork in the office.

Is there any way to stop this? Is it because he's teething, and once he's done he will stop? I hope!!!
Or must we just deal with chewed papers?

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Ming has always chewed plastic and he is seven-years-old! My boyfriend's RB Tomas chewed paper until the day he died at 21. I hope Jax grows out of it.

When you see him doing that, rather than holler at him, redirect him. Keep a stash of toys or bits of chicken or tuna in a baggie in the fridge handy for this purpose.

Not sure it will work, but worth a try.

Saphirah is 11 years old and still chews paper. We just try to remember to keep important stuff out of her reach.

My RB Finae was a chewer... chewed everything. Nothing stopped her. I say just deal with it...I've never found anything that worked well on the chewing, whether it was plastic, electrical cords or paper, lol.

Sandie, it's worth a try. But I will have to carry something around with me at all times. LOL

Candace, VERY good idea! But he has boxes and boxes of files that he needs to take to storage or destroy. Oh, I guess he could just let Jax destroy them for him! LOL

Yes, I think I'll just have to deal with him chewing paper. But I will definitely try the redirect tatic. It won't hurt to try, right?

And Bruce will just have to keep his papers secure while he's working too. HA HA!!!

    Thanks guys!!

Good luck. I now have to hide all of my napkins because Blaze will attack and chew them. I've been keeping them on top of my refrigerator because my RB Sunny used to do the same thing. Well Blaze is my little monkey and he's been jumping up on top of the refrigerator so I have to hide all of my napkins in my cabinet.

When Pearl and RB Starr were kittens they'd chew my mail if I let them. I don't know if cats every out grow this. I just try to keep all important papers out of reach. Like I've said before, cats are like eternal toddlers. You have to toddler proof your home. Good luck.

    Dear Jax,

I am so happy to learn that there is another kitty paper chewer on Pet Talk! Have you tried chewing the mail yet? Catalogs are fun to chew, but card stock is tougher. Newspaper tastes yucky. Meowmies get really mad if you chew gift wrapping paper. But paper bags are fun because you can chew them from inside or out. Happy Chewing!

    Purrs,
    Cassie

    Dear Jax,

Please, please don't chew your meowmie's paper! I have a "chewer" and I'm forever picking paper scraps up off the carpet. I'm careful to keep important papers where they can't be chewed, but at the same time it seems to be a stress reducer for Cassie, so if it's not critical paper I don't discourage her. I've learned that she sometimes does it because she wants something from me, too.

Hugs and kisses for you and your fur-family,

My Sydney has lately taken to chewing paper too. I just do my best not to leave paper that I wouldn't want chewed up around in range for him.

Hmm, no advice, just want to say that my RB Puddy was a paper chewer although she gave it up for licking the glue off envelopes. I had to be sure they were out of reach. I never did break her of that habit. Hope you have better luck.
    Blessings,

No chewers here, just a shredder... Amy use to LOVE shredding the roll of paper towels until her CH got so bad she couldn't get on the counter to get them anymore....

Well, I am glad to hear Jax is not alone in his paper chewing fetish.
This is a good way to keep the house cleaner and not have papers lying around. Hee hee
The funny thing is, in his room I have all my gift wrap stuff stored under the bed. I don't think he's chewed that............yet.

He's a goofy boy and he is the most unusual kitty I've ever had. So I will take him with all of his good or bad habits. Most of the time its like we have three dogs and one cat.
