I dog sit for a couple with 5 dogs. All are rescues from down south. One of them was a cute little female terrier named Scruffy. She was my favorite.
She was having problems with vomiting and pooping blood. She was taken to the vet and put on Science Diet ID along with medicine and Pepcid for her tummy. I woke up this morning and there were pools of blood. I called Jeff and Carol and they asked me if I thought she was in pain. I said absolutely. She wasn't eating or drinking and was very listless.
I took her to the vet and had to make the ultimate decision to send her to the Rainbow Bridge. I snipped a lock of her fur and took her collar. She's being privately cremated.
It was a tough call to make since she wasn't my dog. But both Jeff and Carol said they trusted my decision. I called Carol when it was over and we both cried over the phone. Carol said that I am a God send and she was grateful that I was there. She asked me if I had a problem doing it and I said absolutely not, no animal should go to the bridge alone. She wanted to be there but they're up in Maine.
RIP little Scruffy girl. Be at peace at the Rainbow Bridge. Give kisses to my MooShoo and Mollie Rose. You were so loved.
