What is with this town? Antioch, CA

This is where Jaycee Duggard was held for 18 years. And several other strange/sad/maddening things I've posted about have happened.
    Well, here's the latest one.

There is no excuse for this........at all!

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

    Oh DAMN.

There seems to be no criminal intent here...just a ton of ASSUMING.

I cannot imagine the shock and horror these parents are going through right now.

You know what, I am sorry but this just doesn't make sense. When my kids were little they were my husband and my entire life. We would never have come home from somewhere and dumped the kids in bed and not interacted with them first, even if they were sleeping. And if we did put them directly in bed we would have discussed it. These people have their priorities messed up.

Unfortunately this happens all too often. Some of the cases around here:

Grandfather forgot he was to drop grandchild off at daycare on his way to work, Wasn't his usual routine. Found child dead in the car when he got off work.

Day care worker leaves child in transport van for x-amount of hours. Child dead.

Couple leaves child in car overnight - same as the story posted. Child found dead.

Lots of near misses too.......child survives but for the grace of God.

I just don't understand how this can happen. Don't people double check anything anymore???

If there wasn't maliciousness involved here this couple is the dumbest couple on earth. How do you go to the gym and not realize your kid is in the car? How do you get up at noon and not check on your kid?

Antioch is a suburb of San Francisco, but it's WAY out there in the far-away-from-the-City burbs. It's hot and housing is cheap. I feel so sad for the family. I don't have kids, but still .... how can you forget your kid? I know it happens all too often.

Yup, I live only about 15 - 20 minutes from Antioch. Drive through it all the time to go to my parents house.

I also don't have children and in discussing this story with co-workers who all do have children, none of them could believe it either! There is no excuse for this stupid "accident". NONE!!
