Some Exciting News

Finally getting back into the swing of the internet (yay for wireless built into laptops ) and I just wanted to share some exciting news.

On Tuesday, Lily is FINALLY getting spayed. It's taken a while but with my mom's very nice income tax refund, Lily is finally getting it done. I'm going to be such a nervous wreck on Tuesday but I'm so excited that Lily will be healthier and we won't have to worry about any more "female problems" from her.

Just wanted to share my excitement (and nervousness haha)

Lily will be healthier, you are so right.

Yes, you will be nervous; I always am, and between cats and dogs I've taken in 8 females. It is a common surgery sot he vets have LOTS of experience.

Be sure you get pain meds to take home with you, for her. Some dogs bounce back, some take a day or 2 to recover from the anesthesia; it is all good. Keep the cone collar on her, keep her calm for a few days, follow the vet's take home instructions, all will be well.

Aww, congrats. It'll be okay. Delta just had hers done. She didn't even care about it the day after she had it done. I had to beg her to stop ruff housin' with Remy. Lol

Yeah, my mom has already said they're going to have to give us pain meds. She said she's also going to be a humongously nervous wreck on Tuesday. Do they always give cones so they can't bite/chew/whatever their stitches? We had of our previous cats spayed a while back and they didn't give us a cone. They should have because she chewed her stitches out .

LOL! I hope Lily is pretty calm and doesn't want to go bonkers on me and/or chase the cat or anything. Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll bounce back quickly though.

We didn't get a cone for Remy or Delta. They both left them alone. Delta would occasionally lick at it but we tell her no and she doesn't. But every dog is different. Lol

As for the E-collar, yes they put them on the animal to prevent them messing with the sutures. Messing with the sutures is especially a concern in cats! Be sure to keep Lily calm and quiet for a few days post-op.

Good luck to Miss Lily! I know everything will be fine, but I always worry about simple surgeries, too. Ethan had his dental work done a month or so ago and I was a nervous wreak. lol

Aw, thanks you guys. I'm afraid she's going to think we're abandoning her in the morning when we drop her off. Well, when my mom drops her off as I'll be in school unless we get a two hour delay , but she's never been away from us and we're going to hand her over to the vet and she's going to be upset. We get to pick her up at 4 that afternoon though, so she won't be gone too long.

At least you get to pick her up! That will be good for her. We didn't get Delta until the next day. And I had school and the vet I have is almost two hours away so we didn't get her until five the next day. We missed her.

Today's the day! Lily's been walking through the house looking for water all morning though and she was playing with Tallulah. I think she knows something is going to happen today, but she's a bit confused

Lily got home around 4:45; She's very sleepy and very tired. The vet staff said she was a very good girl and the surgery went really well.
