An eye on you *uppity date* #32

Ok, I'm trying to be funny to cheer myself up.

I didn't mention this before (a few people know) but 2 weeks ago, for no reason, I noticed terrible flashes and floaters in my right eye. Having such bad eyesight in my right eye, I was always warned to report any of these things immediately. So on Monday, the 16th, I started the first of 3 visits to my retina specialist. Last report on Wednesday, although nothing changed (no tears or rips, but hemmorage behind the eye had stopped and *gel* turned over-whatever that is)

Today, as I'm being examined, I hear the doc say something, in a tone of voice I didn't like. Turns out I need surgery in the hospital. He can't do laser surgery of that magnitude in the office. I now have 2 full tears and 1 partial.

So I had to run to another surgeon, go immediately for blood work at a hospital, call my family doc and insist on a physical tomorrow morning, and report for surgery Wed. Don't know the time yet.

I'll have an eye patch for a while. My eye will be red for about a month. I'm going to buy colorful eyepatches. No way I'm walking around with a red eye in public and freaking people out (including myself-ick)

I am having a hard time seeing and a bit headachy.

Please keep your fingers crossed that all goes well, 'cause it's not a guaranteed result.I appreciate it.

    SURGERY WED. AT 10A!
A GAZILLION THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS. I'M PETRIFIED!

Oh, get cool ones! Like one maybe with a butterfly on it ...

I was at camp one year and broke one lens of my glasses in a volleyball game (indoor volleyball because of bad weather). I am very nearsighted, so could not funtion with a lens for one eye, and none for the other. So I papered over the broken lens, and drew on an eye - only a green one, as mine are blue!

We'll keep you in our prayers.

I hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way.

My Dad has had detatched retinas in both eyes so he had surgery in both eyes about 10 years apart from each other. His second surgery was done differently because the technology was better and he healed up more quickly too. I hope that your surgery is a major success. I have to have my eyes checked every 2 years and dilated to check my retinas. I'm actually past due and will hopefully have this done before the end of the year.

Karen I'm really sorry to hear about this and I hope the surgery goes well.

If it makes you feel any better, my mom has the same problem and just recently had surgery which went well.

    Good Luck!

Lots of healing love and prayers to you!

Now you'll get everything fixed and you won't have to worry anymore! Have as much fun with it as you can and make sure you pamper yourself and give yourself all the time you need to heal!!

    Prayers for you from RI!

Wonder if you can decorate eye patches? An elf, a reindeer, a lighted tree, a snow fall / blizzard, an Autumn leaf, . . . . . .

    Karen,

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. It plain sucks getting older. I feel like my body is a used car, all sorts of junk failing on it. Last night I noticed my left knee was "clicking" as I walked.

I went to a specialist for my "floaters" and they told me it was nothing to worry about. They are a pain in the arse. Especially when you're trying to read a book through the little "windows" in my glasses. *sigh* The things we go through.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
