Death sentence

Subject: DEATH SENTENCE TO ALL FERAL/STRAY CATS IN L. A. COUNTY

PLEASE CROSS POST!!!!!

The L. A. County of Public Health, spearheaded by Joe Ramirez, Environmental
Health Specialist, #(626) 430-5468, has contracted the L. A. County Carson
Animal Shelter to trap and euthanize all feral and stray cats within the
park area and wherever there is 'human interaction'. I spoke with him on
two occasions trying to negotiate allowing rescue groups to handle a
relocation and adoption effort. But, he is against relocation of any sort
unless in a cat sanctuary or adoption. He feels that feral/stray cats have
become a National Security problem because of the 'potential' of spreading
deadly diseases, plagues, and biohazards. His mission is to go from park to
park or wherever there are strays and ferals and euthanize them. He told me
that Carson said they would euthanize the cats right away, but try and get
them adopted. So, either he was lying to me or they were lying to him.
Either way, it's a death sentence to all the feral and stray cats in L.A.
County and then maybe elsewhere.

That's AWFUL!!!! The reason cats ARE feral is because of humans. I've gotta say, of all the animals on the face of this earth, the two-legged ones. They are cruel and awful. Present company excluded.

I have tears in my eyes after reading this, I would be willing to go to LA and help rescue these guys, if only I didn't live in PA. poor babies

I pointed Richard to this thread, as from what Gill posted, it's an email forward/cross post, and Richard is geographically closer to the actual situation. He has not heard anything about this, but will look into it.

Yes it is a cross post. There are several people working on this in CA. BUT if it happens there you can bet it will spread. I have called CA. a number of times already. We all have to take a close look and be aware of the laws being passed in our cities and states. In N.J. they are trying to pass a 6 cat limit, at the state level, This would mean that more then 6 you are a hoarder and the number over 6 can be removed and destroyed.

I thought it was up to each town to hold a pet ownership policy.. They usally dont enforce it unless you have been turned in for cruelty & or ect.. I do feel sad for the babies in CA.. Hope there is something we all can do..

I'd say there are far more problems to deal with than cats as far as national security goes. That is grasping at straws for an excuse from a obvious cat hater and should be branded as such. (and that's the kindest thing I can say about him!)
