    Colitis?

Sammy has gotten Colitis for the third time this year. From my understanding it's an infection/viris in the colon, causing bloody stool. The vet thought it may be a food allergy that is causing it to reoccur. We switched him to a non allergenic prescription diet (Hills zd) hoping this will help. Has anyones dog had this?

I had a cat (my mom has him now) that would have recurring bouts of colitis. It just took some switching around before we found the right food. We put him on California Natural, which has limited ingredients, and he's been on it for several years now and has been doing just wonderfully on it.

There are plenty of limited ingredient foods out there that are higher quality than Hill's. California Natural, Natural Balance L.I.D.s, Wellness Simple food Solutions, etc. But if Hill's is what is working for him, then that's okay, as long as he is doing well on it.
    I've been BOO'd!

I don't own/know of an animal with colitis.... but I just though I would add that I was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.... which put me in the hospital for almost the entire month of June!

How much is California Natural approximately? Hills is pretty expensive, but if California Natural or another of those foods is about the same price I would definitely consider switching. I would just have to find a store that sells those brands.

Just an FYI there's a store called The Dog's Meow that sells California Natural. I used to buy dog food there, they have a location in the Draper area. There's another one in Salt Lake City too. http://www.dogsmeow.com/

Oh thanks! I think I've heard of that store before.
