    eyes are bad again

I am just so upset. the eye vet is only there on Mondays... again, if I had known, I would have done that differently too.
Louise's eye is half closed again. Emma squints both eyes, and I can tell the light hurts her eyes. I can't talk to the *#%&! dr til Monday. I am just so worried that this might effect their eyesight, I don't want them to go blind!

IF I HAD THIS TO DO OVER, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN PATCHES TO AN EYE SPECIALIST VET, AND ONE THAT IS THERE WHEN YOU NEED TO TALK TO HIM. ALSO- THE REGULAR VET WASTED OUR TIME AND MADE THE SITUATION WORSE BY NOT SUGGESTING THAT WE TAKE HIM THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE...EXPENSIVE? NOT IN THE LONG RUN, NOT COMPARED TO ALL THE WASTED BULLSH-- VISITS THAT DID NOTHING FOR HIM.

SO , ADVICE TO ANYONE THAT HAS PETS WITH EYE TROUBLE, OR SOME OTHER SPECIFIC PROBLEM SAVE YOURSELF ALOT OF GRIEF
AND MONEY IN THE LONG RUN...GO TO THE EYE(OR OTHER ) SPECIALIST!

Oh No!! Will be thinking of you all and praying for you over this weekend. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear that ToughCookie, what a run-around.

I took Mini to the vet's last night as his eye became red again. Looks like it's feline herpes, but the test results take four weeks to come back, grrrr. We'll take your advice and get a referral to an eye specialist straight away.

Good luck with Emma and Louise, poor little things.

oh no, so you are having the same trouble with your kitty as I am with mine... I will pm you later and maybe we can talk about our cats? (right now I am off to the bathtub!

update...I made an appt today with the other eye specialist that is there 4 days a week, so next wednesday afternoon, I bring Emma, and Patches. I can't bring all 4, so whatever she says for Emma should be the same for everyone. I am bringing Patches because I am hoping to get him a blood test. it started with him. Louises blood test came back as herpes...
(so will see what patches' test shows)

....but today on the phone the lady said something about conjuctivitis or clymadia... I told her the test had showed herpes, but still she said it is unsure, or they are close...and she said the other vet has a different approach... so does that mean the others wasnt right?? I tell you, it's enough to make you want to PULL OUT YOUR HAIR LOL LOL

Im going to be running down the street screaming pretty soon haha

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear that your cats are having eye problems again. It sure sounds like you're getting the runaround and now you don't know who to believe. I sure hope that you get some good treatment soon. I'll be sending some prayers your way too. Good luck.

thanks. I was just saying tonight that I am p - o'd because, we brought Patches to the vet the day after we got him. ok they thought it was upper respiratory, which is common. I still think tho that they should have taken a blood test ( or mentioned it and given us the choice of the expense or not)and told us to see the eye specialist! or the blood test at least then with the result we could have seen the eye vet. but it is water under the bridge, too late now.
but even more irritating was the regular vet, that after a couple times, didn't do what I just mentioned!!

    T.C.

My cat MooShoo had the herpes virus in his eyes. He's got a bad URI right now and I took him to the vet yesterday. The vet did a complete test on his eyes including squirting dye in his eyes and shining a black light on them.

Because of the virus (which has been dormant) Moo is blind in his right eye and can see shadows out of his left. The vet told me that the globe in his good eye was swollen but wasn't sure if it was just the way the breed is. Moo was rescued from a very bad breeder whose whole litter had the same virus. Not only that but Moo and his siblings also tested positive for FIP. It doesn't mean he'll get it, it only means he's been exposed to it. That's why I have to be very careful when he gets sick.

Anyway, I would definitely suggest you take your kitty to a specialist (it'll probably cost a bit but it's well worth it) I had taken Moo to a feline opthalmology specialist who did a complete work up and said that because of the herpes virus, Moo has scar tissue over both corneas and his eyelids are turned in because of it. He told me that herpes is brought on by stress and any other surgery (Moo had already had 2 surgeries) would only activate the virus and cause more scar tissue on top of the scarring he already had. In other words, what I have is what I get.

So, please keep me posted on the outcome. It may be a little expensive, but it will be well worth it to know what's going on with your kitties.

    Good luck, hon.

Oh Mary, I can certainly understand you're upset!! Poor babies! It's just unbearable to have to wait!

I hope they'll get the right medicine and will be back to normal real soon.

My dog, Nebo, has had eye infections several times since I got him. He had one when I first brought him home. A few weeks ago he had it really bad, and his eyes were all red and oozing greenish. I took him to the vet, and he didn't really do anything either, and said it was conjuctivitis. He gave me some sort of ointment that cleared it up right away. A few days ago it started to come back again. I still had some of the ointment, so I put that in again and it's all cleared up now. I just wish I knew what was causing it.

I hope you are able to figure out what is going on with your cats eyes, and that they will get over it soon!
