I might have a problem

This isn't anything that I need to be worrying about right now (but I am ). I'm worried about what's going to happen when I bring Bull and Isis (my new cat) into my new house. They have never met (my Aunt Carol is keeping Isis for me til I move out of my parents house) and I'm afraid that they won't get along that great. I'm not really worried about Bull hurting Isis cuz he usually just lays there and runs the other way. (I'm going by the one time that he was attacked and the way he acts when Fluffy hisses at him) I'm kinda worried that Isis will hurt Bull cuz although she is usually a sweet kitten, she can be a lil spitfire when she wants to. The other day she was here, and she saw Katie and started hissing and charging at her and I had to put Katie outside cuz she wasn't too happy with another cat in the house either (She has this "I hate all cat except Fluffy" attitude)

I'm afraid that she'll do the same with Bull when we all move in together.

Now we haven't even gotten our house yet so I have some time to work this out.

Any suggestions?

I guess introduce them and cross your fingers. Best of luck!

Try letting them sniff each other under a closed door for a while. That way they can get more used to the smells. I also find (if you are brave enough) sitting between the two and petting each lets them know it isn't a hostile intruder.. but that can be risky if claws are long and teeth are sharp!

I had the same problem when introducing my 8 week Bailey, to my 9 month Libby (oldest is female, youngest is male). It took about 10 days for them to get to know each other, and especially for Libby to even "allow" Bailey to be in her "domain".

Keeping them apart for a few days is very important, but make sure they can sniff under the door. Also, after a few days, then switch places and have them smell where they have been. This worked really well for me.

You may see some "stalking", or "tackling" too, but my vet told me that as long as claws aren't involved, they are just playing and getting to know each other. And, if they do get to wild, I would take them back to their seperate rooms again (for a shorter period of time) and try it again.

Now they are the best of friends!

I remember when I brought Pepper home from the animal shelter! She was a tiny little adorable mix breed. She was sooooo cute! Jake was about 40 or 45 lbs at the time. They were both 3 years old, and we'd had Jake since he was a pup.

They seemed to be tolerating eachother pretty well - not paying much attention to one another. Then, we were all sitting in the living room. Pepper was on the couch next to me and Jake was sleeping on the floor. Suddenly, out of the blue, Pepper flew off the couch like a bolt of lightning and took a big patch of fur out of Jake's hide!! She woke him up out of a dead sleep!

I guess she just wanted to establish right off the bat that she was top dog. She never did anything like that again, and they got along great - but she was definitely the alpha!
