A cat and dog sanctuary in CA

I'm almost positive this has already been posted some time ago but in case you missed it, give it a look. There really is a difference between a hoarder and a sanctuary and this amazing woman proves it.

That is so cool! I would love to do something like this. My parents have the property and I keep trying to talk my mom into it since she's retired. But we would need the money to start it and I have no clue how to start a rescue. Once I talk her into it I would research and figure out how to do it. But she is in her early 60's so it will be difficult to convince her. I won't give up!!
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I can understand your mom's reticence especially when we have to consider what will happen to all of the animals after our passing. We can dream, though, can't we?

This made me smile because I'm in my early sixties also, and I suppose I do have some set ideas, but I'm always trying new things. Early sixties, to my mind, is still middle-aged and a good time to branch off into fresh projects. You could try visiting the web sites of some very established sanctuaries such as Best Friends and Pasado's where you should find information on how to start up a rescue, PR and funding, becoming non-profit, etc. Don't dream, do!

I'm sure my sister or one of my nieces or myself would gladly step in and take over. But I'm sure that's what she's thinking of.

I have been sending her links to these stories hoping to encourage her. I'm sure she'll be around for another 20 years or so. She could save a lot of animals in that time. She watches Dog Town a lot. And I'm going to send her this link as well.
