    A few airplane pics?

I used to have a great airshow in my backyard.

It was four days of fun for me and the people in the area.

One of the best moments of this show was stopping in front of a MIG-a Russian fighter that some rich guy bought, restored and would fly it from airshow to airshow...

Two Russian kids (about 20 years old) stopped me and my airshow pal and asked us to take their picture in front of the plane.

They handed me the camera, posed for two shots and as I handed them back the camera, one told me -with a giant smile on his face- "Never thought you'd see a Russian plane at an American airshow?"

We all laughed because we knew how strange it was that so much was made during the time we were all enemies. Now we were just airshow junkies, sharing a day looking at airplanes!

Nope, the city and the Encino home owner's association took over.

The city tore down the National Guard hangars and put up a site for the LAFD choppers.

The EHOA complained that the Friday to Monday shows were too loud.
The planes would fly in on FRI, the airshow would take place on Sat and Sun and the HUGE day was MONDAY!

The planes would take off and the pilots would ask for a flyby-

"ANG 21 requests permission to do a flyby?"

    "ANG 21? Permisson granted."

The F14/18/16/A6/C131 would do a lap and pass over the runway!
One of the coolest was the KC 135 plane with two jets as escort fly over.

Every pilot would wag wing and a few would hit the afterburners halfway down......If you like noise???

I can see their point, but what's a few days of the sound of freedom?

You mean the choppers, probably flying daily, are LESS noisy?

    LOL!
The County FD has their chopper base about 1 mile away and everyday a Huey or a Firehawk flies by at about sunset. I tune out the noise for a minute or two.

The people of Encino are the high maintenance AHs that want quiet all the time.

There is a baseball field/velodrome complex near a tract and they HOA complained to the Little League that the noise from the loudspeakers-they announce the players names when they come up to bat ONLY ONCE A YEAR during those games- was too loud.

Every time there is a city council meeting there is a contingent of these jerkwads complaining about something!
