    shampoo for cats?

This is a question for all those who bathe their cats...what kind of shampoo do you use?

I use a waterless foam shampoo. It's called Out Natural No rinse shampoo. it leaves them smelling nice and no fight to get them in the tub.

I used to use these on the kitties. Did a nice job whitening on the one, and smelled nice for about a week on the other.

However I had to finally stop using them both because they cause me to have athsma attacks. Apparently I'm allergic to them or something. Took me forever to figure out it was the shampoo causing the problem. I had thought it was just being cooped up in the bathroom all day with cat hair flying that was the problem until I had to do a spot wash on one in the kitchen sink which is an open area.

Since I had found out I couldn't use those (cats were fine with them though), I now use these. To be fair the ones in the link are the EXACT same as what bought some time ago but mine don't say 'anti itch' so that is all marketing hype there. Bio Groom does a great job making the fur all nice and soft, less static (probably the cream rinse) and the cats all smell nice for almost a MONTH!

Next bottle I get will probably be Bio Groom's whitening shampoo because the ones I'm using now don't get my white kitties as white as the Top Proformance brightener one did.

First, be SURE the shampoo says it is alright for cats. Stuff which is alright for dogs is often toxic to cats, so make sure of this! There are dog shampoos which do not list cats on the bottle; do NOT use those on your cat!

Then there are products which will list both. Finally, some will say: dogs, cats, kittens, puppies. Depending on the age of the ones you are washing, you may need that type!

I have several bottles of this, which I was using regularly:

Fairly sure I bought it through That Pet Place. I used to bathe my cats regularly, every other month. Did that for YEARS and it did help with my allergy. (I am allergic to cats, LOL!) Then I got the dogs, these white fluffs who need baths every 10 to 14 days, and the cats haven't had a bath at all since! The cats are QUITE pleased with this development!

I don't bathe my cat, but my mom used to bathe our old family cat Socks with regular Baby Shampoo. It's a really gentle shampoo and actually helped cut down the amount of dander Socks had. Worked great!

Since MooShoo has to be bathed every 2 weeks, I use Blue Dawn dish soap. It has the same Ph as a cat and is so much cheaper than cat shampoo.

I use a "plain" human shampoo on Ari--one without stuff for dandruff or whatever--baby shampoo, etc. I prefer to mix the shampoo into the water in the sink since it's easier to wash out, but Ar gets a lot of baths, being a severely disabled handicat.
