    Jillian's surgery + Pictures.

(This picture is almost two years old. I couldn't find any good recent ones without having to do some major file-digging.)

My little girl is going into surgery tomorrow to have a portion of her tail amputated. She has a a small tumor at the end of her tail known as a Chordoma, a fairly common occurrence in ferrets. They will only have to take 1-2" off, and it is a simple procedure my vet has done plenty of times, but I still worry about her. She is my tiny little angel and I have been missing her all day long. She has to spend the night at the vet and will go into surgery early tomorrow morning.

If you can, do you mind keeping her in your thoughts?
It would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

Jill is back home and doing great. They only had to remove an inch of her tail, so you can hardly tell she is missing any of it at all. When I went to check on her just now she didn't crawl out from her blankets as fast as normal, so she is still a bit groggy and exhausted, but otherwise doesn't act like it bothers her in the slightest. Also, Larry is very glad to have his little "girlfriend" back. I won't allow them to rough-house until she is completely healed, though.

Again, thanks for keeping her in your thoughts.
I will try to get some pictures tomorrow afternoon, as right now she is very tired and I want her to rest.

Again, thanks for the nice replies.

I got around to taking some pictures this morning during playtime. Poor girl wasn't too happy about having to play in her pen, but she is going to have to until her tail is healed fully. King Larry was playing outside of the pen and I didn't want him rough-housing with her.

I didn't notice this was blurry until I uploaded it.. whoops. Anyhow, here is how her tail looks now. You can hardly tell, right? She will be getting her stitches out sometime late this week most likely.

This last picture is probably my new favorite of her... she just looks so sweet. And that little blotchy nose of hers! I will admit I am a bit biased, but she is just about the most perfect ferret all around. Larry, on the other hand, is my demon-child, but I love him just the same.

    Thanks for looking!
And again, I appreciate those who kept my little girl in their thoughts, it really means a lot to me.

Happy to hear things went well!

You're right! It's hard to even tell any of her tail is missing!
