Our short hair Bayley has some serious issues with playing fetch. We have never had a dog not want to play fetch, short hairs included. I get her so excited for the ball and she chases it like she is going to retrieve but just stops when it does and looks at it, then me, and this dopey look on her face like... OKAY YEAH NOW WHAT?! This is a kind of nervous issue for us since we are a hunting family and this is important for her to retrieve. Our lab will, but it is still important she does as well in case he doesn't mark the fall since he hunts as well not just retrieve. Is there anything we can do that is more simple than all the crazy tricks we are going to try??? Scented dummys, scented tennis balls. She just wont pick it up.
Also, she is so submissive to me. I am the only one in the house when i call her to me she comes the fastest and listens to the best but when she gets to me she pees. She runs up and literally squats and pees like she were a little puppy who piddles in excitment/submissiveness. She is still a puppy and i understand but the potty training thing has been dealt with, and is a little older to where bladder control has turned on its switch. Its just me, how can i help her relax a little and not be so submissive to me i guess(what a terrible question hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say) when i am the one doing majority of her training but still have the obedience..? I know how to work with, hunt with, train, play with, but these things are driving me crazy and your my only help haha!
P.S. i will get some pictures up soon, attempting to find my camera cord... haha
