Tikeyas tumour and teeth! *pics added*

Tikeya is needing surgery soon to remove the mass growing on her leg, and to possibly remove a couple teeth as well.. She is also getting a good teeth cleaning. She was scheduled to have it all done this up-coming Monday, but I had to cancel, due to not having enough money yet to get her the surgeries.
She is 10 years old on the 5th of May, and I hope to have the surgeries done by then. I have already gotten around $456.00 to put towards her treatment, which is started at around $600.00.

Here are some photos of her lump, and her teeth *which are pretty bad, just a warning*.

She might need her one canine tooth removed, and she defiantly needs a back molar removed. I have been giving her raw Buffalo knuckles to try and break up some of the plack on her molars to prep her for her teeth cleaning.. She just ends up bleeding all over them cause her gums are so swollen.. poor girl .

Poor girl. You may want to try Petzlife -- it's amazing. I've only been using it a couple weeks on my dogs and I've noticed a difference, mostly in the color of their gums and smell so far.

I use plaque off for my two and the cat - seems to help keep their teeth clean and tartar free

I'll have to check out Petzlife and the plaque off as well. I am willing to try anything now.. The vet said that she doesnt think Tikeya wont live for more then four more years!!!! I am like crying. . I have no idea why the vet would say that..

Now why would she say that? How does she know? or rather, what makes her think that? Is there someting else going on she isn't coming straight out with? Tikeya's not that old and seems to be in pretty good health. I would be quite upset too, sometimes people say things & have no idea how it impacts others. (((hugs)))

Once you feel stronger, go back and confront the vet about what she said. she could just be quoting an average life span of a dog without having any evidence

I didn't realize Tikeya is 10 (almost), I though she was 7 or 8. I think Brody's Mum is right, she's just talking about "average life span". One of Jack & Sherman's kennel mates was 17.

From a breed info site:
"The average life span of the Siberian husky is 10 to 12 years. "

from two other sources:
"Huskies commonly live till the ages of 15 or 16 years, but in the arctic when working they are lucky to make it to 8 or so, [due to]the climate..."

Poor girlie! I hope the surgery goes well. I don't have any ideas on what you could use to clean teeth. I always give my dogs raw meaty bones and they have great teeth. Even Beanie who is 11 now. Not a spot of plaque on his white and shinies.
