My boy is growing "fuzz"!!!! Now known as "Mr. Fuzzy Butt"

Ari has "patches" of "fuzz" on his back end. The vet told me that it's stress related. What the hell could he be stressed about? Look at him! Doe THIS look stressed to you??

Notice the dark patches. I don't know. They're kinda cute and give him character. It's my favorite spot to give him smooches. It eventually falls out (or he licks it off) and it grows back again, so go figure.

    I love that boy!!!!

Maybe from his eye? If it is uncomfy, as you said the vet said, that could produce low-level but constant stress.

    He sure looks sweet!

Don't furry cats LOSE their hair, or pull it out, under stress?

    Go figure!

Donna, maybe he is a bit self-concious about his physique these days and is trying to hide a bit? He certainly doesn't looked stressed to me!

Wait wait.... so a cat with fur licks itself bald when stressed, but a hairless cat GROWS hair when stressed!??!

    That's crazy!!! LOL!!

Hope Ari feels less stressed soon.

Ari, I know you live in a full house, but see if you can find a quiet place to settle and rest so you aren't over stressed. Someplace like . . . a window perch, where mom gives you lots of loving and smooches!

Donna, I think the vet may be wrong on the stress verdict. I did some googling, and found this on many sites:

What causes some Sphynx to grow fuzz?

Much depends on the genetic background of the particular cat, but hormone changes may sometimes cause your sphynx to grow a small amount of fuzz as it matures. Early spay/neuter will lessen the chances of this happening. It may come and go with the changing seasons or remain intact. Mother Nature will often have the last word.

    http://www.vandebald.co.za/Breed_Pro...phynx_Cat.html

    And from TCA:
It is acceptable for them to have short, tightly packed soft hair on their ears, muzzle, nose, feet, tail base and on the tip of their tail.

If I remember right, Ari is young, so maybe he is just maturing, going through hormonal changes or whatever.
