Sand cat kittens at Lincoln Park Zoo

Aren't these kittens cute? I found this picture on the Chicago Tribune online. They were born October 2006. Sand cats are the smallest wild cats, an endangered species. I just think they're sooooo cute!

They are absolutely gorgeous! I have never heard of the species before. They don't look very wild.

I've never heard of sandcats before but these little ones are way too cute! How sad that these little guys are endangered, they would probably be wonderful pets. Are they feral or are they in a protected refuge where they're safe? Prayers are being prayed for the kitties' safety and especially for the survival of their species!

Wow! Wikipedia says that they're all about hot, dry weather and don't even have to drink water so long as they have prey to eat, usually only get up to 6 pounds, and their Latin name Felis margarita means Pearl Cat. Neat! I'd never heard of them before. I was thinking of the Sand Cat in Jenny Linsky!

These beautiful cats are VERY rare and worth lots of money. Remember there was a thread I posted about coffee that was like $10,000 a pound because of the flavor and the way it's processed??

Well, meet the little coffee grinders!!! Yup, these cats are the ones that eat a special coffee bean grown where they habitat. When they "ahem" do their business, there's a native right behind him (no pun intended) picking up the cat's poo so he can get all the coffee beans out. This is no joke. The coffee has some special aroma and flavor. Yeah, how about cat$6it?????

Give me good ole American coffee, thank you very much!!

It's true. They are beautiful cats, aren't they???

I saw sand cats when I visited Bristol Zoo in England which is just over the bridge from Cardiff, they are gorgeous, and have the most amazing bat like ears, they're a wonderful colour too, like a pale buff shade.
