    No more skinny Sierra!!

Sierra will be 7 this July, for the first 4 or so years we had her she was very skinny! We had her tested for EPI - Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, changed food, free fed... etc. My vet finally said "She's skinny, but she's healthy. I wouldn't worry about it."

My eyes about popped out of my head when I noticed that a picture I took this past week of her was taken at the same angle (and background) of a picture I took of her back in 2005.

This was her back in 2005

and this is her this past week!

She always packs on the pounds over the winter, right now she's up to about 85 pounds then in the summer she slims back down to around 75-78.
It's a huge change from the 60-65 we struggled to get her to the first few years. Visitors to our house in the winter are always VERY shocked to see her at her winter weight. I assure each and everyone that she does in deed slim back down come summer time!

I guess that also explains why she doesn't jump over the fence during the winter! She can't get her fat butt up and over!

She does look skinny in that first picture. I think she looks beautiful now. Winter weight is healthy, it helps to keep her warm.

Angie, my Layla is a bit thin like Sierra in the first picture. She is still young, just past 1 1/2 years. After RB Mandy and Lacey being heavy due to their health issues, it is a joy to see one of my dogs on the thin side. She isn't food motivated at all. I'm glad Sierra filled out a bit, I too tend to worry about Layla sometimes.

LOL! Sierra, it's alright to be a bit fluffy, especially in the winter. At least you lose yours in the summer You're a beautiful girl. We all have our fluffy days.

She's so cute anyway. I think she looks like a Husky or a wolf from the back.

Ahh yes... I've had the Wolf/Husky debate many many times about Sierra.

Yup! More of her to love is VERY true! Also more of her to keep my feet warm!! I'm just happy that she doesn't look sick anymore! I used to get comments like "Is your dog supposed to be that skinny? Is your dog sick?"
I'm happy that she's healthy now! (VERY healthy!! )
