Had to foster this big guy .... life or death for him!!! New pics #8

There was an urgent plea for someone to foster this boy from our local high-kill pound. I just couldn't stand to let him be PTS. I quickly e-mailed the addy and filled out my foster form. Within an hour I went to pick him up. We got home at about 4:30 p.m. He was scheduled to be PTS at 6:00 p.m.!

He was a complete gentleman on the car ride home, I think he's used to riding! He's already met all the dogs except Gretta, AnnaBelle and Betina, and they all love him. Of course he has marked every inch of the backyard already as he is un-neutered! He has an appt. to be neutered on the 21st, so I will be getting him to his appointment as well. He is supposed to only be with me a couple of weeks and then will be going to a rescue in New England.

He had been in the pound since 12/21.
    Here is Bear:

OH my goodness!! Thank you for fostering him. You are such a wonderful person for saving this beautiful dog.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Oh Kim, lol, you haven't already got your hands full, but a foster as well. How wonderful that you could and did step up and help this Bear!

The head looks Akita to me, but then I look at the rest of him and I'm not sure.

They called him a White Husky mix, but you are right, his head and NOSE are huge and very squared! I just got some good pictures of my own, I'll post them later on!

    Kim

Edit: After doing some research, I learned that there are lots of Akita / Husky mixes. They even have a "designer" breed called the Huskita!

Wow he is gorgeous. Thank you for opening up your home and heart to this guy so he has a chance at a new home. Please give that big ol' head some kissed from me.

Me again. That pic with Bettina is so funny. Bear, the Gentle Giant! You will need to forward all this info the New England rescue, as he sounds VERY adoptable! "Plays well with others." LOL

Yes, thank you. You can tell he had been shaved down, but I thought he looked rather odd with that big head. That's what it is, it could very well be an Akita head. Thanks for putting a breed to that for me. Now I can say that when his coat grows in I think he is going to be a stunner. Well, you have had good luck so far Bear, finding such a good foster home. Hope you get as nice a forever home as well.

Yea, I do think his shaved body is making his head seem much larger!

Are you SURE there isn't an open Dawg Slot right where he is now?
If he gets along so well with the Resident Herd ... just give him a membership card
and save the long trip to the New England rescue.

Kim, did the shelter have any thoughts on his age? From his muzzle he looks young, but then with the lgihter colored fur it is sometimes harder to tell.
