    Why, why, why....

do cats pee on the sides of the litter box so that it sticks like glue? They have the whole box to go in but they almost always pee on the sides or the back. Just wonderin'.....

    Mary

Mary, there are things we are just not meant to understand!!! I have not figured out why our cats, like yours, have the entire box to use, but will have their bottems out of the box and out goes the pee...

He heee. I know the "boys" just MUST have something to aim at. No idea what the firls' excuse is!

Someone on here suggested spraying a light coat of Pam on the box after you clean it, and before putting in the fresh litter. May at least help with the removal.

Oh, they pee in the box, just right up against the sides of it for some reason. Ah well, I love 'em but I just don't understand 'em sometimes.
    Blessings,
    Mary

Then consider yourself lucky, Mary! I also have one who gets in, gets positioned, butt hanging OUT of the box, and does her thing.

That's funny! Once in a while I find a dingle berry but I know it's an accident.

Of my three kids - two are fairly normal, but I have one brick layer (Emma) who just has to pee right on the corner of the box. I think she loves making cornerstones - and is waiting for her name to be engraved on them.

I have found that the layer of Pam sprayed on the clean box does help.

    Medusa,

Because Mollie Rose digs to China and gets litter all over the damn place, I have to have covered litterboxes. *sigh* It helps, but really doesn't work. Anywho, I have two cats that sometimes pee on the lid and it makes for a real icky mess when cleaning out the boxes.

So I feel your pain. I have a toilet brush I use strictly for cat boxes.

You can't blame them. It's probably due to the size of the box, unless it's done deliberatly, then it's probably just the size of the box. You might want to get a rubbermaid storage bin that is deep and very wide. Then fill it up with litter. It works great at the shelter I volunteer with.

We use large storage bins, the sides are about 12 inchs high. Most of the litter and every thing else stay in side. with 8 using the boxes it can get very full fast. One of our, Princess, will stand on the rim to dig and cover. I hav eseen her stand with one leg in the box.God forbid she gets a paw dirty.

I really think they just pee in weird spots. I have boxes of all sizes, a couple of them are really extra large and all are covered. Puddy especially seems to like resting her front paws on the front of the box and the pee sticks to the front side. Aaaaaaaaaaaargh! It could be worse, I guess. They could be peeing in the house, which they aren't, and I'm certainly thankful for that.

    Mary
