    Hank my rope fish

Hank got out of the tank yesterday and I think he was out for at least 30 min--to an hour. My mom found him and got him back in the tank and closed the openings up better so it couldn't happen again; he seems to be doing alright now, so since he's been alright this long I think he's gonna be just fine. but it did scare me because I really love Hank, i have really have gotten close to them....they're really neat and tons of fun to watch!!

but what made me wonder is this: the petco guy said that they can stay out of the tnak for over an hour, and I know Hank wasn't out over an hour so maybe the guy was just wrong or something???

Yes, they can survive out of water for quite a bit longer than most normal-bodied fish. You'd be surprised at how often you can revive even a normal fish after a few hours. I'm glad he's alright. Rope fish are quite the escape artists as I've heard.
