    Corn snakes....

just asking for any personal info on corn snakes, I have read up on them and they sound perfect for me. my mom and I decided to go separetly on the new creature route as my mom is more interested in an amphibian but I am more interested in reptiles. well long story short, she hasent decided what she wants, but planned out how she wants the tank. I however have my own 25 gallon tank, and while I had never been a snake person, ever since seeing "Silken" a registered Creamsicle snake at the great new herp/fish store last weekend, I havent been able to get her off my mind. so I started looking up Corn Snakes(and yes I am aware that a Creamsical is a hybrid) and they sound so perfect for what I want. I already have the info for caring for them etc.. all I want now is RL experiences from people who actually HAVE corn snakes

I had originally wanted a corn snake but my SO found out they are known for being escape artists and she thought that wasn't such a good idea.
I was looking at some at one of the pet stores, and every night one of the baby corns got out of its tank and one night ended up in another tank with some other type of reptile 3 tanks to the side of the one it was in.. Lol.

I still want to eventually get a corn snake, but for now I'm happy with my little albino garter snakes.

Corn snakes are great! I have had Fluffy since the beginning of the year. He is so great!

Though they may be flighty while younger, they are known for having an even temperament and being easy to handle. The bit about being escape artists is true (Fluffy is the opposite, though. He stays on the ground quite a bit.). We just have a couple of heavy books on one end (There is a heating lamp on the other end. The heating pad doesn't *quite* keep up the ambient temperature and humidity on its own.).

Here's Fluffy a few months ago:

I think he's one of the amelanistic bloodred varieties or reverse okeetee. Our next one will probably be one of the bloodred, lavender, or opal varieties.

We've had our Corn snake, Flick, for just short of 7 years. They're great snakes. They overall tend to be a pretty easy snake to keep. We've never had a problem with Flick escaping. He's a great eater too- he eats 3-4 frozen/thawed rat fuzzies every 7- 10 days. He's never bitten (he doesn't even strike at his food).

Here is a picture of Flick, he's a Snow Corn. The picture is pretty old, but it's what I found on my photobucket account (he looks the same now, just bigger).
