Officer 'forgets' K-9 partner in car.

Here's another reason that dogs should never be used as 'partners' in law enforcement.

    Moron.

Bet you 5.00 that this cop is slapped on the wrist and no charges are pursued.

Just another "oopsie" and get the jerk a new dog.

If you forget your partner, what other duties, details and info can you miss?

    WTF???

I don't get it. He calls the dog his partner but then he forgets the dog in the car?? Ugh I don't even want to know. I really hope they worded that title wrong.

Forgetting your partner in the car? Did this cop have his brain fried or what?
That would be as bad as parents forgetting they had kids in the car. That is sickening, a clear case of animal cruelty.

The thread title is mine-in the story the report states that he "forgot about the dog"..

This disgusts and sickens me! This is unforgivable and inexcusable. Poor Bandit. May you have a much better life now. I don't see an email address on their site. But here's their contact info. I think a written letter would be much better than just a phone call.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

There have been similar stories involving children in the news.

How, praytell, does one forget a child/dog/cat in a car?

I've forgotten my keys, glasses, and other inanimate objects in various places, but fail to see how one could forget a living being anywhere.

The right click function is diabled. They came in 4th in explosives for the Desert Dog 2007 Police K9 Trials.
Way to treat your partner, jerk! Like someone else at work pointed out. If a citizen kills a police dog, they're charged with killing an officer. This sargeant at least needs to be demoted to regular patrol, if not fired, or at least suspended.
