    abscess burst

OMGosh, I think Champ has an abscess. I noticed late yesterday evening a bump on her butt. I checked it out, noticed it was probably about the size of a dime, round and slightly raised with a pinkish tint to her skin. There was no opening, it was clean, no oozing, so I just figured she probably had gotten stung or bitten by something and decided to keep an eye on it. Well now it is about the size of a half dollar and raised at least 1/5 inch. It is redder. I have attached a couple pictures of it below. The first picture is upside down, her tail is the little nub on the bottom and the lump is about 1" above it. The other two aren't the best pictures but I think you can see it alright. Has any one ever seen this before? She has an appointment now tomorrow morning at the Vets to have it looked at. She doesn't seem to even know it is there but I think it looks sore.

Don't mind her girlie parts, poor Champ if she only knew I had displayed this online

Well the abscess burst open last night. It drained really black/red blood. I could tell it was going to release because it was so black and the skin was really shinny from the tightness. She sat down and started licking it so when I went to check it out I have noticed it just broke open all over the carpet. I guess I will call the vet this morning, take my camera with me if they still want to see her so I can show them these pictures. I am thinking they would want to give her an antibiotic.

It may have been an impacted anal gland. They will rupture like that sometimes. I hope Champ gets feeling better soon.

That is what it was. I kind of thought that might be it but it just came up so fast I mean 30 hours from the time I noticed it. I know that seems like a long time, at least it sounds like it now that I have typed it, but I noticed it about 4 PM Wednesday and at about 9 PM last night it had ruptured. I am so glad that yesterday afternoon there had been a cancellation at the vet for this morning and I took that appointment.

I had to leave her to have them flushed, they will sedate. So 264.00 later she will hopefully be feeling better.

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.
