DNA traces origin of domestic cat

I was interested in this story posted on the BBC's website last night. A new study has just been published which suggests that the ancestry of today's domestic cats could stretch back to well over 100,000 years ago.

It is thought that at least five females from the fertile crescent region gave rise to all the domestic cats alive today.

Adds to the argument that mankind couldn't have survived and prospered without help from the cat keeping the village grain stores safe from rodents.
The Tribe has continued this tradition...why just this morning, Tiger was guarding the kitty treats until one of us humans could get out of bed and give some out. He sent Scooter in to see if we were still sleeping soundly or if we needed to get up.
100,00 years of planning and training went into this morning's routine....we are in awe of our felines

Edwina doesn't look a day over 99,999! I saw that story in the front section of our paper as well. Isn't it interesting that they also think the cat initiated the relationship?
